Youth Clinic on May 2 @ Breese Stevens
The Madison Ultimate Frisbee Association (MUFA) and the Madison Radicals are co-sponsoring a youth clinic on May 2nd from 12-4 at Breese Stevens Park in Downtown Madison. Last year, we had about 50 kids ranging from elementary school to high school-aged players who want to learn how to play ultimate from the very best players in Madison. We are hoping for an even bigger turnout and even more coaches in 2015!
We are looking for help from club and college players in the Madison area to teach kids 18 and under ultimate. There are a variety of levels so don’t be intimidated by level, there is always something you can teach!
All questions regarding the clinic may be directed toward Lindsey Gapstur, our new State Outreach Coordinator. Please send her an email if you are interested in participating or have questions. You can contact her at: email@example.com.
MUFA TRAIN’s Youth League + Skills Camp (alternating Fridays during summer)
Last year we launched MUFA TRAIN, a weekly skills clinic on Wednesdays before COMP league. Our coaches took turns teaching skills, drills, thought patterns, workouts, etc. that have helped to get us to the level we are at. My sign in sheet said that we had about 35 different players attend around their league games throughout the summer (not all at any particular night, obviously).
The idea is to move our Youth League and Skills Camp to alternating Friday nights (5:30–6:30) to allow our YCC-aged players to participate to participate on their relative high school teams on T/R and M/W leagues, and utilize our energy on a night many of us meet to train/work out. We need lead coaches and supporting coaches. Lead coaches will plan the session and create a handout that can be posted online so that the players may take the drills/etc. with them to their respective teams. Supporting coaches serve as demonstrators, assist youth players in learning the skills, and help reinforce concepts and SOTG.
If you are interested in this opportunity, we will be having a planning session in Mid-May and would love some help planning out this opportunity! All questions regarding MUFA TRAIN may be directed toward Robyn Wiseman, MUFA women’s chair and YCC Coach. Please send her an email if you are interested in participating or have any questions.
